Sleep ASMR has been around for quite a few years now. It’s only started growing in popularity in the last half a decade or so. That’s because it’s been spurred on by the COVID-19 pandemic. It seems to have different effects on different people but it’s goal is singular: to help people who struggle to fall asleep actually fall asleep.
I’ll be upfront: I’m not sure why it works. There are neuropsychological occurrences in the brain that come from auditory triggers in the videos, but what specifically occurs I wouldn’t have a clue. Anecdotally, people report feeling the sleep coming on from different cues, i.e. there isn’t one clear thing that works for everyone. Best thing to do is to try and see what works for you, then to keep using it until it doesn’t work anymore, then try something else. Use these below videos as a starting point.
